S SD-401W - No. 100 WWII Selvedge Denim Jacket - Type I
The Studio D'Artisan S SD-401 is a reproduction of WWII-era Type I denim jackets, built with the same honest attention to period detail that defines SDA's best work. Material rationing during the war reshaped garment construction in ways that became unintentionally iconic, and this jacket captures all of it: four buttons on the front instead of five, a single flat chest pocket in place of the flap pocket, iron laurel wreath tack buttons, and the deliberately rough, uneven stitching that resulted from wartime labor diversions rather than any aesthetic choice. The 15oz right-hand twill selvedge carries the weight and surface character the silhouette demands, and the classic Type I details, front pleats and a back cinch buckle, sit in a slightly boxy, cropped fit that reads as period-correct, not costume-y.

Fit Notes: Tommy is wearing a size 42 in this jacket. That's the size he almost always wears in their denim jackets. This seems to have that more classis, small nature that we're used to from Studio. The type I is boxy by nature, but this one felt just a little more trim in the size 42 than previous iterations. That being said, this is still the size he woudl take. Tommy is 5'9," 165lbs with a 41" chest.
